Observed incident
Profero observes ARTEX-linked application exploitation and data extraction
Reported

What happened
During a late-October response engagement, Profero observed application attacks, SQL injection and data extraction. It linked activity to ARTEX probes and assessed improvised payloads as LLM-assisted.
Parties and reporting
AI tools and systems: ARTEX (researcher assessment), Unspecified LLM agent, Residential proxy exits
Outcome
Exploitation was observed against customers, but victim totals, final losses and containment are undisclosed. Other AI tools were found on operator infrastructure without proof of use against these targets.
Operating lesson
Detect injection behavior, constrain database privileges and protect origins; shared proxy addresses alone are weak blocking criteria.
Evidence and limits
The October 31 investigation is distinct from an earlier framework overview. ARTEX attribution combines probe markers and supporting infrastructure. Nearby Cairn instances are not established attack components. No link to previously reported ARTEX operators was found; common tooling and hosting do not establish one.
